March Chapter Meeting

Early in March, we gathered at comrades Babe and Karissa’s home to mingle and get to know some of our newest members!
On the 19th, we gathered at comrade Derron’s house to celebrate his birthday and to enjoy the wonderful cuisine of our very own comrades Matt and Babe who prepared a Nowruz meal in celebration of the Persian New year. Fun and great food was had by all!
Organizing
This past Saturday, some of our members went to the No Kings protest to agitate those who are ready to move further left. Thank you to Comrades Beccah and Amanda for creating the beautiful flyers and for our comrades who attended the protest and made some great connections with future comrades!
Coming up
Chapter Social
Our chapter social for April is this Saturday, April 4, 2026.April 4, 2026. We will be attending a gun safety course for anyone interested. Its meant for first time buyers but everyone looking to learn the basics is welcome. The instructor will walk you through the dos and don’ts of ownership and home defense, maintenance, and includes some range time. If you are interested in joining this event, please RSVP below by the end of the day on April 1, 2026.
Chapter Meeting
Our next chapter meeting will be on April 9, 2026 at 6pm at the Poyntz Shelter at the City Park, weather permitting. If the weather is too cold or storming, we will host it on the voice channel on our chapter Discord server. While we will attempt to make this a hybrid meeting, it will depend on the logistics of the day.
Collaboration
Kansas City Chapter of DSA - The Steering Committee will be meeting with the Steering Committee form the Kansas City Chapter of DSA on April 11, 2026. If there are any questions or topics that you would like us to discuss with them, please reach out to the Steering Committee. We are making an effort to collaborate with other Kansas DSA chapters in order to better the material lives of Kansans across the state.
Little Apple Peace Patrol - Amanda has been working with the organizers of LAPP, Manhattan’s ICE rapid response to learn how our chapter can support their efforts. As was discussed during last month’s meeting, they are only doing rapid response, so could use an organization like ours to organize mutual aid and to do fundraising.
CIVIC
Amanda will pick a time to meet sometime this month to discuss the future of CIVIC.
One initiative we will be doing is tabling at Little Apple Pride on April 25, 2026. We will be handing out little baggies with an information card, a treat, and some stickers. We will also be taking donations for Little Apple Peace Patrol. We will also be walking in the Pride Parade. If you’d like to participate, please sign up below.
Tenant Organizing
For those who have expressed interest in working with tenant organizing, Noah has reached out on Discord and will be scheduling a meeting sometime this month to begin organizing. If you are interested in joining us, reach out to Noah on Discord or email us at chapter@fhdsa.org.
Political Education
For the April Book Club, we will be reading The Wretched of the Earth by Frantz Fanon. Join the Flint Hills Socialist Book Club to suggest future reads and to keep up to date on what we have already read and are currently reading.
The Flint Hills Socialist Book Club meets the third Sunday of every month to discuss a book. We meet on the voice channel of the Flint Hills, Kansas Chapter of DSA Discord at 3:30pm.
