About Us

Flint Hills, Kansas Chapter of Democratic Socialists of America

The Flint Hills, Kansas Chapter of Democratic Socialists of America seeks to facilitate the transition to a democratic socialist society where workers collectively own and democratically control the means of production, where economic decisions are made based on human need rather than private profit, and where all people have genuine equality of opportunity and security in meeting their basic needs.

This society will be characterized by workplace democracy, public ownership of key industries, comprehensive social provision of healthcare, education, housing, and transportation, ecological sustainability, and the elimination of oppression based on race, gender, sexuality, nationality, disability and other identities. International solidarity will replace imperialist competition, and participatory democracy will extend from workplaces to communities to all levels of government.

Flint Hills Chapter of DSA was chartered in July 2023. The Chapter was born out of the efforts of two members of what to organize tenants. The Chapter has steadily grown over the last two years and is expanding its capacity to foster meaningful dialogue, education, and action.

Get Involved

The Flint Hills Chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America is rooted in the belief that socialism is not an abstract ideal, it is built through the daily, collective work of ordinary people organizing their communities, demanding dignity in their housing, engaging in civic life, and developing the political consciousness necessary to challenge systems of exploitation toward revolutionary liberation. Our chapter organizes across three interconnected fronts: the Tenant Organizing Working Group organizes through our partner organization, Flint Hills Tenants United, civic and community engagement through our Community Involvement and Volunteer Initiatives Committee, and political education through the Political Education Committee which hosts a monthly book club, films, discussion, and other forms of collaborative learning. Together, these efforts form a local practice of socialist politics.
