Flint Hills Breadbasket Food Drive!
Saturday was our food drive for the Flint Hills Breadbasket and there are absolutely no words that will be able to adequately capture how grateful and blown away we are by the community’s response. Based on prior events held by our organization, we expected less half, maybe one third, of the donations we received.
When we say that Manhattan wrapped its arms around us today, we mean that. Not only did we take in enough food to fill two chest freezers, 15+ vehicles, two garages, and the donation room at the Emergency Shelter, we were also overwhelmed with monetary donations for FHBB and people- most of them complete strangers to us- offering to help organize and transport donations.
We can’t possibly shoutout every person who stepped up to help us- some of you didn’t even leave your names!- but it was an incredible experience. If you were out there with us today, please know that you are so deeply appreciated. We absolutely could not have done it without you.
Manhattan is a community where people believe- overwhelmingly- in taking care of each other, and today was a beautiful reminder of that.
Enjoy this photo of one of our members, Matt, who is standing among some of the many donations received!
